Things To Do

Due to the  fantastic number of sunny days here many of the activities on offer are available all year round.

Walking

Valor is on the GR7 which runs from Tarifa in Western Spain to Greece and is named after the ´Gran Recorrido´or Long Journey which it certainly is. There are a number of walks from the village; something to suit every level and interest. For the more adventurous, Mulhacen -the highest mountain in Spain at 3,478m - is just a short drive away.

Skiing

The Sierra Nevada ski resort is about 2 hours away and offers a great day out for all the family. There are slopes to suit the novice and the brave - El Rio at 3km /545 vertical drop - snowbikes and sleigh rides. In the summer months the stunning views and fresher climate offer a welcome respite from the soaring temperatures.                                          Closer to home Puerta de la Ragua is just 30 minutes away and at 2000m is a popular venue for cross-country skiing, toboganning, horseriding, sleigh rides and of course hiking.

Granada

This really is a must-see for visitors to the Alpujarras and is only 1 1/2 hours away. Of course, the Alhambra Palace is unmissable but there´s lots more to do in Granada. Why not take an overnight trip, spend the days sight-seeing and wandering the shops of the Albaicin with it´s shaded alleyways and moorish architecture  sample some of the many tapas bars before enjoying an evening of flamenco in Sacramonte, the old gipsy barrio.

Birdwatching

You don´t need to be a twitcher to appreciate the birds here. Enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace in the afternoon and you might see Goshawks, Red Kites, Bee-Catchers or even a Booted Eagle; and every evening we are treated to a show by the swallows.

 Relaxing

Yes, there are lots of things to do but in our experience once people arrive they are often happy to spend long, hard days on the terrace, reading or simply taking in the stunning views.
